Catching the Light
If you're looking for a heart-warming set of stories that will keep you riveted and captivated, then Mary Grand's new collection of four short stories is the perfect read for you. In "Belonging," a young Deaf woman finds her place in a new relationship, while in "The New Arrival," Rachel, hiding a secret, discovers an unexpected connection with a loving, crazy cocker spaniel. "Catching the Light" tells the story of a woman whose dream of a fairytale prince is shattered on her honeymoon, while "The Outing" reveals a secret mission that uncovers much more than Kay could have imagined. Also included is an excerpt from Mary Grand's full-length novel, "Free to Be Tegan," which follows Tegan's journey of courage and survival when she is cast out of her cult and left vulnerable and naive. With writing compared to the popular contemporary women's authors Kate Atkinson, Adele Parks, Maeve Binchy, and Diane Chamberlain, this is an easy read that you won't be able to put down. If you enjoyed Free to Be Tegan, you'll love this new collection of stories from Mary Grand.

About the Author
I was born in Cardiff and have retained a deep love for my Welsh roots. I worked as a nursery teacher in London, and then taught Deaf children in Croydon and Hastings . For nearly thirty years now I have been lucky enough to live on the beautiful Isle of Wight.
My writing career started with self-publishing three novels, Free to Be Tegan' , 'Hidden Chapters' and 'Behind the Smile' alongside two free anthologies of short stories 'Catching the Light' and 'Making Changes'.
In 2020 I was very excited to start working with the amazing Boldwood Books who published my first murder mystery, ‘The House Party.' This is set on the Isle of Wight, and as with all their books is available worldwide in print, eBook and audiobook.
This book was followed by two more island murder mysteries, 'The Island' and 'Good Neighbours.'
In March 2023 Boldwood Books published the first in my new series featuring amateur detective Susan Flynn and her partner Alice called 'Death at Castle Cove.' These are murder mysteries, classic whodunnits. They are set in the present day but are inspired by many years of reading Agatha Christie!
